Bill Mitchell is an active trombonist and educator in the Springfield, Illinois area. Bill has performed with every type of ensemble from bands and symphony orchestras to jazz ensembles and New Orleans style brass bands. Most notably he has performed with the South Dakota Symphony, Lincoln Symphony, and the Lake Shore Symphony. Bill has taught in Illinois Public Schools since 2016. He has taught K12- Music at Virginia CUSD#64, 5-8 Band at Taylorville Junior High and is currently the Band Director at Glenwood High School in Chatham. He is also currently on staff at Illinois College as the low brass professor and at the University of Illinois-Springfield as low brass professor and band director. Bill holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Masters of Trombone Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
A Bit About Glenwood Band Boosters
The Band Boosters organization provides support to three growing band programs in the Ball Chatham School District in central Illinois, serving more than 450 students in grades 5 – 12. We help fund instrument purchases and repairs, scholarships for band camp, marching uniform maintenance and snacks and refreshments at concerts and band events.
